Villa / SpartaA composition of an old threshing floor and a villa was clear that it should create a contrast.
Around the simple circular shape something else unfolds. The fragmented building elements followed by the polygonal path create a composition the center of which is not the threshing floor nor the villa. Insted, those two elements seem to converse like a river and a rock. The rock is solid, motionless and the river becomes turbulent around it. The two main volumes of the building separate the private rooms that look towards the threshing floor from the more public areas that have a view of the Mount Taygetos and the plain of Eurotas River on is foot. |
